財団法人日本卓球協会会長石川六郎

皆様いよいよこ健勝のことと推察申し上げます。

21歳以下の世界大会として第4回地球ユース卓球選手権大会を開催することになりました。ご承知のように本大会は日本財団の補助を得て、国際卓球違盟と本会が共同主催として開催するもので、本会にとりましては、目標としております世界卓球選手権大会でのメダル獲得を念頭においた大会であります。伸び盛りの17歳から21歳に至るプレーヤーが全盛期となる頃、ぜひとも世界のトップに君臨してほいものと期待しております。

世界吝地から参加された選手の皆さんも、それぞれ世界へ羽ばたくステップとして大きな希望を持って来日のことと存じます。互いに若人らしい闘志溢れるはつらつとしたプレー、フェアプレーが展開されるものと期待を寄せております。参加されました選手の皆さん、それぞれ持ち前の技術を十二分に発揮され、チャレンジ精神のもとに大きな収穫が得られますようこ健闘ください。

終わりに、ご協賛いただきました日本財団はじめ、競技運営や準備に多大のご尽力を賜った干葉県教育委員会、干葉市教育委員会、干葉県卓球連盟、並びにご支援ご協力をいただきました関係各位に対し感謝申し上げ、あいさつといたします。

Greetings

On behalf of Japan Table Tennis Association, l would like to extend my heart felt welcome to all participating players and officials．

As you know, the Championships are the world events for the players under 21 years old．Sponsored by the Nippon Foundation and organized by the lnternational Table Tennis Federation and the Japan Table Tennis Association．For the Japan Table Tennis Association, we are aiming to win the World Table Tennis Championships in 1997．Players between 17 years old and 21 years old are in their golden time in table tennis and I would like to witness their best achievements．I also expect them to encourage each other and to play with fighting spirit and in“FairPlay”Sportsmanship．I sincerely wish the players will perform their best skills and achieve their best results．

Lastly I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the sponsors, especially, the Nippon Foundation, to Chiba Prefecture, Chiba City, the host association-the Chiba Table Tennis Association and to all the people concerned for their efforts and contributions．
